Ms. Lu is a dedicated educator committed to fostering her students' passion for music while cultivating flexible technique and a solid musical foundation. In addition to leading her private studio, she is currently serving as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music, where she teaches flute students in the Frost Preparatory Program. Her experience also includes roles as a Flute Teaching Artist in the Colburn School’s Jumpstart Program, a flute instructor at Miami Arts Charter, and a Woodwind Teaching Artist with the All-Star Youth Orchestra. Ms. Lu has actively contributed to music education in Miami-Dade County through outreach programs with the New World Symphony. Moreover, she was honored to serve as a judge for the National Flute Association High School Soloist Competition in 2017, as well as for the New World Symphony Fellowship, Concerto, and Side by Side Auditions.
Teaching Style
I would like to impart my gift and knowledge with anyone who wants to take flute lessons.
Fundamentals.
Mastering the basics (posture, breathing, tone, technique, articulation, rhythm, intonation) may take more time to establish fundamentals but will speed up the learning process later in music development.
Practice.
It is important to teach the student how to become their own teacher so that they understand how to practice efficiently at home.
Active Performer.
The student benefits from hearing first hand information from someone “in the scene” and regularly hearing the way I play and demonstrate. This will help them develop proper tone and musical concepts.
